Electric Retractable Cover

UltraGroove Electric FAQs

How does the UltraGroove Electric work?

The UltraGroove Electric is powered by an electric motor in the canister that opens and closes the cover along rails fastened to the truck bed. It is operated by either a key fob remote control or smartphone app. In case of power loss, a manual release lever can operate the cover.

What is the UltraGroove Electric made of?

The UltraGroove Electric is manufactured with heavy-gauge extruded aluminum panels powder coated in a black textured finish for increased strength and durability. The panels are fastened together with a silicone hinge seal.

Will the UltraGroove Electric keep the truck bed dry? What about ice and snow?

Water collected on top of the cover is channeled to the canister. Drain tubes at the front and rear direct water away from the truck to help keep the bed dry. Water does not pass through the silicone hinge-sealed top, but it may enter through areas that are not part of the cover, such as the tailgate or stake pockets. Proper sealing during installation is important.

Sweep snow off the cover before operating it. If ice is present, use your hand to slap the cover near the middle to create vibration that helps break up the ice. Do not use anything other than your hand.

How does the UltraGroove Electric lock?

The UltraGroove Electric electromagnetic brake system automatically locks the cover in any position.

Will the cover improve my gas mileage?

Your gas mileage may improve. Numerous studies indicate that aerodynamics and fuel economy can improve with the use of a truck bed cover.

Is there a warranty on the UltraGroove Electric?

Yes. The UltraGroove Electric has a seven-year factory defect warranty on all parts.

How much weight will my UltraGroove Electric hold? Can I walk on it?

The UltraGroove Electric is not weight-rated for load carrying. It can hold a substantial amount of evenly distributed weight, such as a snow load, but walking on the cover is not recommended.

Can a garage door opener operate my cover?

The UltraGroove Electric uses rolling-code technology with approximately seven million random codes that change each time the button is pressed. It is unlikely that a random garage door opener could operate the cover.

Does my engine have to be running to operate the cover?

No. The cover operates from the vehicle battery. It may move slightly faster while the engine is running.

Is a cab-mounted operating switch available?

Yes. A universal Manual Switch Kit, Part # BL-1120, is available and plugs directly into the controller's extra pigtail. It operates the cover with the flick of a switch.
