"Drive Clean, Tread Lightly"
LEER Combines Our Love Affair with Pickups and Our Respect for the Great Outdoors

Make no mistake - the 2005 new Chevy Silverado Hybrid is a PERFORMER, built to do the things people depend upon full size pickups to do. It moves people and their cargo with comfort and power. That's why GM engineers and designers created a truck that combines traditional gas power with clean, quiet, efficient electric power. The resulting Hybrid is a demonstration of technologies that may one day be commonplace on our highways.

GM selected LEER (and a handful of other aftermarket firms) to turn its high-tech experimental Hybrid into a show-stopping project truck. With LEER's history of high-style, high-appeal customizing, GM knew itwas working with a winner. (Jump to a list of Project Truck participants)

LEER took its concept for the Hybrid Project Truck to its project truck partners who contributed ideas and
resources to the theme "Drive Clean, Tread Lightly." Outdoor experts made it clear that people who enjoy active outdoor sports often have a keen respect for the environment that can seem to be in conflict with the biggest, "baddest" SUVs and trucks. But the GM dual-power technology shows everyone that they can indeed "drive clean and tread lightly." LEER and other project truck partners show everyone that the market is full of accessories, gear and equipment that can enhance any outdoor adventure.

LEER crowned the truck with its signature Model 100XQ cap, adding security, protection, styling and usable cargo space to the pickup bed. LEER outfitted the cap with its brand-new Adventure Sports Edtion package, a collection of gear and features sure to win the approval of any
sports enthusiast. (See all the ingredients of this best-selling truck cap right here).

More than 25 other suppliers lined up to contribute appearance and performance accessories to the truckl; many others chipped in with sporting gear, from bikes to backpacks. During the upfitting schedule, which was crammed into a few frantic weeks before the truck's debut at the Las Vegas SEMA Show, everyone who had a chance to ride in the truck marveled at how successful the marriage of gasoline and electricity was. GM executives were impressed enough to award a special plaque of honor to LEER for its work on the GM truck.

By the time the SEMA show was over, it was clear that GM engineers were proving their point, that hybrid technology could work in a real-world, full-size pickup. It was also clear that LEER was proving its point too: With the Adventure Sports Edition truck cap from LEER mounted on the new Chevy Hybrid, you really can "drive clean and tread lightly," no matter where your sense of adventure wants you to go.
